I haven’t updated for several months. I’ve experienced a lot of changes in my life lately and this website naturally fell by the wayside. I honestly had decided to just let it be. Keeping the website updated got to be too much, and my motivation to do so just hasn’t been there. But then the Parkland shooting happened.
I’ve watched, along with the rest of the world, as a group of students from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School decided to stand up to the NRA (and the politicians owned by the NRA), and fight for necessary changes in gun laws. And I watched them get a small victory on this issue in a very short amount of time when the Florida Governor signed new gun legislation. And I watched as they have vowed to not stop until real change was implemented. And I watched as they organized a nation-wide school walk-out and a massive rally in D.C. to bring even more attention to this issue. Their drive, courage and fortitude is such an inspiration. I’ve felt a shift in our country. Not just on the issue of gun control, but in general. And at the forefront of that shift is Millennials.
FDR famously said, “There is a mysterious cycle in human events. To some generations much is given. Of other generations much is expected. This generation of Americans has a rendezvous with destiny.” The Millennial Generation is next in line to have a rendezvous with destiny, and we won’t let anyone stop us from realizing it.
Below is the video that I made a year-and-a-half ago, just before the 2016 election. I’m re-posting it because I feel that the message is even more relevant today than it was then. Millennials need to keep this momentum going. We are the largest voting block in the country right now, which means that if enough of us vote, we will decide the elections and push the country in the direction we want it to go.
Change doesn’t spontaneously happen — it is created. And we are the creators of our reality. We have it in our power to begin the world over again. Let us NEVER forget that.
